People who have to undertake a HIV/Aids test will be guided

supported by a counsellor prior to and after testing. Counsellors
offer continued support, information and advice to HIV positive |
| |
people, their friends and family. |

TRAINING
AND WORKSHOPS
All our courses are presented by professional,
competent, qualified and experienced therapists. Courses will be
presented by social workers, marriage and family counselling specialists,
educational - and clinical psychologists.
Basic Counselling Skills:
This 55 hour introductory course, based on Gerard Egan’s model
of counselling, is aimed at lay and professional people who have
a commitment to counselling and passion for helping people. The
Participant will:
experience what it is like to be counseled
experience being a counsellor
practice skills like listening, empathy, etc
develop self knowledge and be empowered to use counselling skills
and support others in need
This course is presented in the mornings or evenings.

Effective Parenting & Parental Guidance
Effective Parenting is not just a course, but an experience teaching
parents how to help their children develop into happy, healthy balanced
people. Aspects that will be discussed include:
positive parenting
relationship building
developing children's potential
effective discipline
teaching moral values
In this course we tackle the real challenges of
parenthood. This very practical hands-on course, runs regularly
and is presented in the morning and evenings.

the dynamics of a marriage relationship, to be aware of the pitfalls
and be helped in experiencing unity in their marriage. Strengths
and working areas are identified and couples work through a workbook
with a therapist, addressing important aspects of their relationships.
This course is presented over 5 sessions.

HIV is a pandemic affecting everyone that's infected or not infected.
It disables households and also the work place to a great extend.
This course included information on:
The ways of HIV transmission
What happens to the body when HIV enters it.
The importance of knowing your status
How to take care of your body when you are HIV positive to prevent
getting ill quicker (including ARV's)
Managing HIV in the workplace
Legal, ethical and policy issues.
The goal of the course is to empower people with knowledge, to motivate
people to know their status, to equip people with skills to protect
themselves from being infected, and if they are already infected
to follow a healthy lifestyles to prevent the virus from weakening
the body. This course runs over three days.
